Following three days of racing in the Bay of Islands in New Zealand, new entrant sailing yacht KAWIL (ex.GITANA, ZINGARO) has beaten out the more experienced competition to take the Millennium Cup 2020, and she is now available for charter.

The 2000-built 34m/112ft sailing yacht from Derecktor with a design from Sparkman & Stephens raced against SILVERTIP, SASSAFRAS, JANICE OF WYOMING and ADELE and took the Millennium Cup thanks to the timing and manoeuvres of her professional crew.

KAWIL – cockpit

S/Y KAWIL has been impressively maintained since her launch, receiving refits in 2008 and 2014 to offer modern technology and comfort carefully integrated into timeless surroundings. The lower salon is a warm and intimate environment providing a TV lounge and a casual dining area for family meals in air-conditioned surroundings. The upper lounge receives an abundance of light through the surrounding windows and makes an ideal place for guests to rest with reading material, or for dining at the fold-out table.

KAWIL – Seating

Outside, the shaded cockpit is a great place to connect with the surroundings while protected from the most intense sunshine or sudden cloudbursts on summer evenings. The aft section can be laid out with sun loungers, and guests have easy access to the water via steps down the stern and a fold-out swim platform.

There is a great selection of family water toys for use in New Zealand waters, with water skis, a wind surfer, fishing gear and snorkelling equipment available.

KAWIL – guest cabin

The accommodation sleeps a maximum of 6 guests over 3 en-suite cabins: 1 Master suite and 2 twin cabins. There is a professional crew of 5 for effortless sailing and the experience of a lifetime.

If you’re interested in seeing the tropical idyll of the Hauraki Gulf – the race course for the 36th America’s Cup – or spotting kiwis in the southerly Stewart Island (also called Rakiura) and all the amazing swimming and fishing spots in between, then S/Y KAWIL is a sensational way to explore and absorb the natural beauty and culture that characterise this South Pacific nation.
