Benetti Superyacht Luminosity
Previously known as ZOLA, M/Y LUMINOSITY was launched in February 2019 as the second of three yachts launched in Benetti’s ‘Giga yacht season’. The exterior styling is a collaboration between the shipyard and several illustrious design houses, among them Reymond Langton, RWD, Giorgio M. Cassetta, Azure Yacht Design & Naval Architecture and Zaniz Interiors.
Immediately noticeable in the design is the pristine white hull and superstructure, complemented by expansive rosy teak decking as well as clean straight lines across her decks and in her contemporary plumb bow. Even from a distance, it’s clear that the rows of floor-to-ceiling glazing are an integral part of life on board, connecting the indoors to life outside.
Alfresco dining area
Outdoor lounging and sunbathing areas are abundant for the 27 guests, and for dockside events, there is plenty of space to host even more people on board. Whether there is a massive party in the making or just the Owner on board, the professional crew of 37 will keep everything running efficiently.
The main deck aft is one such example, where a large sofa and inviting armchairs are placed for group conversation benefiting from uninterrupted views. The flush foredeck can be used for observation and exercise, while the space forward of the bridge deck is furnished with plush sofas. The sundeck is perhaps the most impressive outdoor area, with a certified helipad aft, a Jacuzzi forward to port, a central alfresco dining area and a wet bar to starboard.
M/Y LUMINOSITY is aptly named: At night lighting panels glow down the length of her hull and the interiors are revealed in warm honey hues.
As alluring as the exteriors are, it’s the interiors that steal the show: Designed by Zaniz Interiors, there are homages throughout to celebrated artists and creatives, such as the Damien Hirst-inspired circles on the French limestone floor in the main deck foyer, and the ‘stairwell eye’ nods to Man Ray. The geometric style of Matisse’s later collage work is used in the sky lounge and salon, creating a focal point in the marvellous hand-forged steel lighting fixture that has been polished to a mirror finish and encloses a thousand Bohemian crystal bulbs within. The beginning of Moby Dick is engraved into the pillars, and Portuguese Majolica tiles can be seen on the cabinetry from Boca do Lobo.
The Master suite office uses convex and concave dished to enhance the lighting – a touch that mimics the art of British Indian sculptor Anish Kapoor. What’s more, the en-suite bathroom has a Cullingan hydro-massage tub, crafted from a single block of marble – the type which Michelangelo used to sculpt David. The other 11 en-suite cabins are just as comfortable and some have fireplaces for romantic, cosy nights in together.
The gorgeous beach club brings the outdoors inside with a swimming pool as well as a cold plunge pool and fold-down swim platforms for a through the breeze and drying off in the sunshine. The attached gym has a comprehensive selection of equipment and full-height windows so that guests can exercise looking at the scenery in light-suffused surroundings. There is an intimate dining area nearby with its own fold-down terrace so that guests don’t have to go far from the accommodation and amenities. Guests will also be enchanted by the hammam and the ‘moon lounge’, while conferences have never been easier with the dedicated facilities in brilliant, naturally lit environment.
Art has been brought to life through technology onboard M/Y LUMINOSITY: There are over 370m/1213ft of interactive panels showing nature scenes in motion as guests walk through corridors and up the glass and steel spiral staircase. The 264 white magnolia flowers on the main salon wall create a moving mural, opening and closing as someone passes by.
As with the lighting, the cutting edge technology is an essential and yet subtle element of life on board: Both systems and electrical appliances for crew and guest use operate at peak efficiency anywhere across the globe; from the AV systems in the salons and the galley equipment to the finger-print recognition system to access private areas and an ultra-fast internet connection never before installed on a yacht of this size. Safety systems have received just as much attention and include sand filters, air sanitation systems in the medical centre and retractable stabilisers.
Mega yacht LUMINOSITY has diesel-electric propulsion powered by six Caterpillar C32 engines to give a maximum speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 10 knots. An extensive cruising range of 8,000 nautical miles will take her lucky guests to untouched remote destinations and back again with ease.
